Biral Patel, Consultant Urologist
Biral was appointed a Consultant Urological Surgeon in 2007 following his training at the University of Bristol, culminating in the award of an MD and also a Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. In addition to general urology, his specialist clinical interests include the management of urological cancers including Robotic surgery for prostate and bladder cancer. He was instrumental in introducing robotic surgery in Gloucestershire, and helping make it a major cancer centre. Biral has an active interest in the training of future surgeons and urologists and was previously the Training Programme Director for Urology in the Southwest. He has also been a member of the council of the British Association of Urological Surgeons.
Jon Rees, GP, with a specialist interest in Urology
Jon became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1999 before spending 3 years in Urology Training (MD completed 2002). He subsequently moved into General Practice and is now a GP partner at Tyntesfield Medical Group in North Somerset. Alongside this role, Jon has been working in Community Urology clinics in Bristol, North Somerset, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire since 2008. He is Chair of the Primary Care Urology Society, has been a member of 2 NICE Guideline Development Groups and provided consultancy services to a range of NHS and private organisations.
Jeremy Nettleton, Consultant Urologist
Jeremy completed his undergraduate training at Guy’s, Kings and St Thomas’ Hospitals, London and his surgical training in London and the South West. He was the first chief resident at Bristol Urological Institute and completed a fellowship there. He was appointed to Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in 2020 and is clinical lead for the department. He continues to push for improved care for his patients and recently led the successful bid for two new DaVinci robots, a fixed site lithotripter, new outpatients spaces and the Aquablation robot. Jeremy was the first surgeon to start aquablation therapy in the South west of England and has lead both the NHS and Private programmes. He has a high volume practice and has outstanding clinical outcomes as measured by national metrics. He has done advisory work for the National Institute for Clinical Excellence, Olympus Medical, Procept and the international incontinence society. He has formally been a non medical director at GP Care limited.
Lynda Frall, Director of Operations
Lynda has extensive experience in healthcare management, pathway redesign, and project management, following completion of her undergraduate and masters degrees in managing quality in healthcare. With over 15 years in the NHS and an additional 10 years in the independent healthcare sector, she provides operational and business oversight for the Shire Surgical team and plays a key role in service strategy and pathway design.
Kelly Staff, Head of Marketing
Kelly specialises in healthcare marketing and management. Following her marketing degree, she gained many years experience in marketing and subsequently went on to work within the healthcare sector in operations and management. She has worked in both the NHS and for prestigious private practices. For Shire Surgical, she utilises her specialisms of marketing and healthcare management and is responsible for marketing, in addition to having a strong focus on documentation and policy, elevating clinic performance and improving operational efficiencies.
